The government has been able to set aside some grants for businesses that are just starting or wanting to expand and develop. The grants that are awarded to these businesses do not need to be paid back. It is not like a loan wherein you need to return the amount borrowed which has interest rates and the like. What happens is that the federal government usually passes it to the local government who in turn passes it to developing agencies; the developing agency in turn will give it to deserving clients or individuals in the community.

They link you or introduce you to other businesses that may be able to be of service to your own. Or maybe they offer you other vital information that you can use to get ahead of the business game.

Don't be intimidated about requesting for financial aid. You can come from an ethnic minority, be a woman, or just a concerned ordinary citizen trying to meet the daily needs of the family. It doesn't hurt to share your ideas on paper and try filling up an application and submitting the requirements requested. It doesn't hurt to spend a few hours in a week working on your business proposal and requesting advice from family and friends on how to make it better.
