Government EcoENERGY grants are back!

Government EcoENERGY grants are back!

Back by popular demand, the Government of Canada recently announced that they will be extending ecoENERGY retrofit grants until March 31, 2012. This means that all those repairs and replacements that you have been meaning to do to improve the energy efficiency of you home will now cost you a whole lot less.

The program has been in place since 2007, but those who didn't take advantage of it initially now have a second chance. Things like insulation, new windows and central air systems are prime targets for your renovation budget this year, as the federal governments will rebate you up to $5,000 for qualifying services.

Home air system installation companies like World of Comfort in Bloor West are able to help you navigate through confusing eligibility charts and determine how you can take advantage and save the most money while you still can.

If you are living in a house that has a furnace, air conditioner or hot water system that is decades old, installing high efficiency units could not only save you money on rebates, but also save you on your month-to-month utility bills.

The savings you could have right now are huge for home upgrades. For a new furnace, you could be getting up to $790  dollars back. A new air conditioner purchase could rack up as much as $250 in savings. Throw in new insulation, new windows and a new water heater and the long-term savings will be well worth the initial investment.

Additional rebates for Energy Star heating and air conditioning installations up to $650 dollars can be had when combined with OPA incentives.
